A crowd of mourners has reached the Shalamcheh border with Iran coming from Mashhad to participate in the annual trek towards Karbala on the mournful occasion of Arbaeen, or the fortieth day following the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and his companions in the Battle of Karbala on the 10th of Muharram 61 AH.
Official sources reported that a procession consisting of a number of Ahlulbayt followers from several Iranian provinces began their journey from the holy city of Mashhad intending to reach their destination in 50 days.
It is worth mentioning that the procession will enter Iraqi land via Basra and then head northwest to the City of Imam Hussein to participate in the rituals of Arbaeen.
