Hezbollah proud of being targeted by US: Nasrallah

Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of Hezbollah, says the Lebanese resistance movement is proud of being targeted by the US.
“We are proud that the US is punishing us. This is the same US that will forever remain the Great Satan, whether before or after the [Iran-P5+1] nuclear agreement, because the resistance [group] will defend its territory and this is a resistance against the Zionist project or in better words the Takfiri project,” Nasrallah said in a speech on Saturday.

The comments came days after Washington imposed sanctions on three Hezbollah officials over the group’s military operations against Takfiri terrorists in Syria.
Elsewhere, Nasrallah rejected accusations of financial corruption against the resistance group, saying the claims are part of the the propaganda campaign to tarnish the image of Hezbollah.
He said there are certain Israeli media outlets that spew accusations against the officials of the Lebanese resistance movement, adding that the move is a clear example of character assassination.
Nasrallah said Hezbollah has no commercial or financial enterprises.
Nasrallah further dismissed claims that Hezbollah’s days are numbered because of the breakthrough in nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries, saying the enemies have been making similar allegations for over a decade.
He said Iran’s support for allies like Hezbollah is “unbending” and cannot be easily broken by developments like the recent breakthrough in nuclear talks between Tehran and the six world powers.
“Iran’s president and the rest of the officials have reiterated that the country’s stance toward Hezbollah would not change,” Nasrallah said.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Nasrallah touched upon the ongoing political standoff in the Lebanese government and criticized the representatives of the Future Movement for threatening to step aside from the cabinet.
He said such threats will be deleterious for Lebanon. “The country will head towards vacuum,” Nasrallah warned, adding that the only solution to the current deadlock would be for the political parties to engage in dialogue.
